On Friday 21st April 2023, the Senior 1 and Senior 2 students had a very interesting session which was led by Dr Kari Kivinen, a leading world expert on media literacy and fake news. Dr Kivinen was invited to our school and to meet the students by Dr Kenneth Vella who is also the the Ambassador to Estonia and Finland.
The girls had a hands-on session on how to distinguish between authentic and fake online news. They also had the opportunity to use their mobile phones and personal devices to identify between real and false information when browsing on the internet. Dr Kivinen also presented a website which one can access to identify authentic and photoshopped images. This session was very useful for the girls which equipped them with skills to help them when accessing online information. The school thanks Dr Kivinen for the interesting and informative session.
