Celebrating World Mental Health Day – October 2022

Mater Boni Consilii, St Joseph School Paola joined the rest of the world today to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

Ms Nicole, the Grade 5 teacher and Ms Elaine, the mindfulness teacher during her afterschool mindfulness sessions, organised activities to promote the healthy well-being of our students and the school’s community. Some of these activities involved asking the students to come up with different positive affirmations/messages which they would like to remind themselves daily for a healthier sense of self.

Moreover, on a suggestion by Ms Elaine, a permanent section-board has been put up on the wall going up the stairs to the first floor which is dedicated in bringing awareness to Mental Health and Well-being for the benefit of our school community.

There is no health without mental health. As a school we strive to make this our priority, especially during this week which we will be dedicating solely to Mental Health and Well-being. These activities compliment other initiatives being taken by the school in this aspect during this scholastic year.

Last June, the head of school signed a memorandum of understanding with Minds Ahead UK to support our policies regarding the mental health of the students and staff.
