Visit By Mr. Hector Picard – January 2025

On Friday 31st January 2025, the school welcomed Mr Hector Picard, a Maltese lay missionary who has been carrying out missionary work in Peru for over 20 years. Mr Picard works with the Sisters of Mother Theresa. Dr Kenneth Vella, Head of School, invited him to speak to the girls during assembly where he explained the work he carries out in Peru. Mr Picard was accompanied by Angelique, a 12-year-old girl from Peru, who is Mr Picard’s Goddaughter. At the end of the assembly, Dr Vella reminded the girls about the feast of St John Bosco which is celebrated on 31st January, and explained how St Savio also worked with the poor.
Mr Picard and Angelique had a session with the Senior classes where they discussed life in Peru. Mr Picard emphasised on the importance of God’s presence in his life, which gives meaning to his voluntary work. Angelique also played a traditional Peruvian musical instrument in front of the Senior girls. This visit was coordinated by Ms Anna Gauci, the Religion teacher.
