On Thursday the 16th of April 2026, our Senior 1 students visited the premises of a local 3D printing company – Invent 3D. Ing. David Sciberras showed the students around their 1500m2 premises at Mrieħel where he explained the process of 3D printing. The girls had the opportunity to see the largest 3D printer in Malta where cars and even boats could be manufactured using recycled plastic. Then they also saw several small 3D printers, each doing specific and commissioned work pieces for several individuals or companies, including special 3D printers which use resin to produce highly-defined results. Ing. Sciberras explained the first steps to produce an item from market research, development, to the actual selling of the product. It was a very interesting site-visit where the students could see in person the things that will be tackled in the ICT C3 subject. The outing was coordinated by Ms Cristina Spiteri, ICT teacher.
