School Calendar First Term 2024-2025
On the occasion of various anniversaries celebrated in Malta during the year 2024, mainly 60 years from Malta becoming an Independent State, 50 years from Malta being a Republic State, 45 years from Freedom Day and the 20th anniversary from Malta’s accession into the European Union, last scholastic year, students from Mater Boni Consilii St Joseph school Paola, worked on an interesting project which was launched yesterday. The senior classes did extensive research on these important dates in Malta’s history as well as several state people who had a pivotal role in marking Malta’s history. This work was carried out as part of ongoing assessment in History, Geography and Maltese, under the guidance of Ms Lycia Bezzina, the History and Geography teacher, and Ms Rachel Sladden, the Maltese teacher. The work was compiled into a book entitled Lil Din l-Art Ħelwa, which was presented to Her Excellency, President Myriam Spiteri Debono, on Monday 16th December 2024, by the Senior 1 and Senior 2 students. Extracts on Malta’s Independence, Republic and Malta’s accession into the European Union were read during the event by Leah Camilleri, Faith Schembri and Julia Rose Attard. Kady Gatt, Aaliyah Spiteri and Kayleen Zahra Cutajar were the presenters during the event. Her Excellency, the Hon. Spiteri Debono, commended the girls for their impeccable work. Dr Kenneth Vella, headmaster, thanked Her Excellency the President of Malta for hosting the students and staff and for taking special interest in this project. Dr Ian Mifsud, Director General within the Secretariat for Catholic Education, also attended the event.
