The Pre-Grade girls are currently experiencing learning of different areas of development through a project about hair. Special thanks to Leli, who allowed us to observe him in his salon as he cut clients’ hair, as well as Ms Mulvaney who spent the morning in our class showing the children tools and techniques related to hair, and also styling their hair, who helped fuel the children with more knowledge about Hair.
On Tuesday 24th January 2023, the girls had the opportunity to visit Prim and Proper Salon where they had various learning experiences. Ritianne and Svetlana were great with the girls. They allowed them to watch the whole process of a lady having her hair dyed and even encouraged them to help mix the hair dye. The girls also asked a few questions related to hair and sketched drawings of what they observed in the salon. Ritianne styled their hair and the girls were also given a bag with hair products suitable for their age, as well as other items.
The children were very excited to see the hair care process up close, and the visit helped reinforce what they had learned in class during these past 2 weeks. Special thanks go to Ritianne and Svetlana, of Prim and Proper Salon, for providing the girls with such a lovely experience.
The visit was a great way to connect classroom learning with real-world examples and make the hair project more engaging for the students.
