Visit by the Hon. Minister Evarist Bartolo on the occasion of the Day of the Mediterranean – November 2021


On Thursday 25th November 2021, our school hosted Hon. Minister Evarist Bartolo, Minister for European & Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Mediterranean which will be celebrated on Sunday 28th November 2021. Minister Bartolo was welcomed by the two of the Student Council members, Mariah Vella and Kelly Magro. He was led to the school yard where he was greeted by the Senior 1 and Senior 2 students in order to take part in a dialogue with the girls. Shezny Schembri, Eliza Scicluna, Katrina Gatt, Emma Falzon, Krista Vella, Ilenia Portelli and Mariah Gauci from Senior 1 and 2 asked him questions about the Union of the Mediterranean. At the end of the activity, Leonee’ Camilleri and Valentina Muscat Vassallo presented Minister Bartolo with a commemorative plaque.

 

Minister Bartolo thanked the school for hosting him and congratulated the girls for the work the students carried out about the Union of the Mediterranean during the Geography and History lessons. At the end of the visit, the Minister also visited the Senior 2 class where Ms. Lycia Bezzina, the Geography and History teacher, and the students explained what they had discussed in class about the Union of the Mediterranean and presented a PowerPoint presentation with their work. Minister Bartolo informed the class that this work will be presented to the official quarters of the Union of the Mediterranean in Barcelona and will be shared with the other member states of the Mediterranean Union.

 

Well done to Ms. Lycia Bezzina who prepared the students for this activity and also to the Senior 1 and 2 girls for their impressive work. The school thanks Minister Bartolo for accepting the school’s invitation and for honoring us with his presence.
