On Friday 28th January 2022, our school hosted Cardinal Mario Grech on the occasion of the commemoration of the late Cardinal Prosper Grech who received his foundation education at Mater Boni Consilii St. Joseph School, Paola. The school council members, Ilenia Fabri and Mariah Vella, welcomed Cardinal Grech and ushered him to the school yard. Yasmine Camilleri and Krista Formosa compered the activity. Yasmin Pullicino, of Senior 1 and Julia Borg, of Senior 2, read out the biography of Prosper Grech, including excerpts from the biography In Te Domine Speravi written by Ivan Marsura. In his speech, Cardinal Mario Grech showed his appreciation for the invite by the head of school and recalled the values held by Prosper Grech and the many talents he possessed which he made good use for the good of the wider society. When addressing the students, Cardinal Mario Grech also stressed about the importance of showing gratitude and to live out the Catholic values. Later, he was invited to unveil the plaque in commemoration of Prosper Grech. Kaya Grasso and Leanne Galea presented him with a commemorative plaque. Cardinal Grech was then invited to see the photo exhibition which illustrates important milestones in Prosper Grech’s illustrious career. Well done to Ms. Mary Grace Grech, the Music teacher, who led the students in singing hymns during the activity. The school thanks Cardinal Mario Grech for accepting the school’s invitation and for honoring us with his presence. Special thanks go also to Sister Denise Vassallo, on behalf of the Community of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and Father Leonard Mintoff for visiting the school on this occasion.
