In preparation of a new scholastic year the teachers and staff participated in a number of meetings and discussion on the 20 th and 22nd September 2017. As is tradition the scholastic year for all the staff at Mater Boni Consilii St. Joseph Paola started off by celebrating mass in the convent chapel. This year Mass was celebrated by Fr Keith Scicluna parish priest.
After mass the teaching staff then gathered in the hall for a presentation by Ms. Angela Coppini service manager at the Education Directorate for Church Schools regarding assessment followed by workshops. During the workshops the teaching staff discussed the various challenges they meet when they are creating the assessment tools and much discussion ensued regarding how to improve the various methods of assessment and build upon them.
On the 22nd September 2017 the morning started with a meditation session about the life of St. Emilie led by Provincial Sr. Cecilia Schembri. Afterwards, the Head of School Dr. Kenneth Vella led a staff meeting during which he welcomed the new additions to our staff and outlined the challenges for the year ahead. In the second part of the meeting then a group of teachers together with the headmaster led a presentation in which they recounted their experiences whilst on a Study Tour in Tampere Finland in August 2017 in collaboration with Learning Scoop Finland.
