Staff Meeting and Seminars – September 2018

In preparation for the new scholastic year, on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th September 2018, members of staff participated in a number of meetings and discussions held at Mater Boni Consilii St Joseph School Paola. As a tradition, the scholastic year started off by celebrating mass in the convent chapel and which was celebrated by the Can Fr Marc Andre’ Camilleri who is Paola’s Parish Priest. After mass the teachers then gathered in the hall for a presentation by Dr Kenneth Vella, Head of School, who welcomed the new additions to the staff and outlined the challenges for the year ahead.

In the second part of the meeting held on Monday, Mr Mario C Mansueto reminded the members of staff, the health and safety regulations and also the evacuation procedures in case of emergency. A group of teachers led a presentation in which they recounted their experiences whilst on a study tour in Tampere, Finland in August 2018, in collaboration with Learning Scoop Finland and with the financial assistance of the European Union, EUPA and the Erasmus + Programme.

On Tuesday 25th September the members of staff took actively part in an interesting workshop on the use of Robotics and Computational Thinking in the curriculum. This workshop was led by Ms Abby Camilleri Pearson on behalf of robocoach and Energy Investments Limited. During the coming scholastic year, robocoach sessions will be offered to our girls both during school hours and also after school. This thanks to the agreement signed between the school and Energy Investments Limited.

Dr Kenneth Vella, headmaster, would like to thank robocoach and Energy Investments Limited for their support towards the school.
