Senior 2 Participation in BeSafeNet Olympiad Online Competition  – February 2022

On the 18th February 2022, some Senior 2 students competed in an Olympiad on natural and technological hazards which was organised under the auspices of the European and Mediterranean Major Hazards Agreement (EUR-OPA) of the Council of Europe, a platform for co-operation between 24 countries of Europe and the South of the Mediterranean in the field of disaster prevention and preparedness.

More than 200 teams, more than 800 students and more than 120 schools from 11 different countries joined the challenge and competed. Senior 2 students Martina Cassar, Faith Mizzi, Eliza Scicluna, Katrina Gatt, Krista Vella, Krista Formosa, Krista Meilak, Julia Borg, Cassidy Spiteri Farrugia, Kelly Magro, Svetlana Micallef and Jasmin Psaila, with the help of Ms Madeleine Agius Carbonaro, have been preparing for this online competition since last December. They learnt about the hazards, risks and preparedness of landslides, pandemics, volcanic eruptions, radiological emergencies and tsunami. They made the school proud by participating in this international competition. Well done to the students and to Ms. Madeleine!
