Senior 2 – Field-trip to Nature Trust’s sustainability-park at Xrobb l-Ghagin – 2015

On the 21st April 2015, the Senior 2 students were taken on a field-trip to Nature Trust’s sustainability-park at Xrobb l-Ghagin where the main focus of such a visit was water issues.  The students were engaged in a variety of activities as part of the Alter Aqua package that was offered to them; the students were briefed about the vegetation found there and in the Maltese Islands, and about the adaptions they had to make to survive; contact with nature was made especially through the silence exercise where a sense of belonging with the environment was felt; group work to discuss well-prototypes, reverse osmosis and other filtration systems were done and multi-sensory shark experience was also felt as the students had the opportunity to see, hear and feel what sharks feel.  This visit was not just an inter curricular activity between science and geography, it was a cross curricular activity between all of the subjects and even for life-long learning as the principles of sustainability where to have enough for everyone and forever was discussed.
