Omega 3 Project – The Presentation of Fish Oil Capsules to Students – March 2021

On Monday 1st March 2021 at Mater Boni Consilii St Joseph School Paola, the first capsules of Omega 3 were administered to the Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 girls with the consent of the interested parents.  This initiative was brought forward by a very hard-working parent and independent researcher Mr. Charles Micallef, who liaised with the school administrators and  a local supplier.  The brand name of the product being used is ‘Holland and Barrett Healthy Kids Omega 3 Fish Oils’.

This pilot project has been taken up by the school as through research it has been found out that fish oil benefits children and is strongly linked with brain health. Moreover, Omega 3 can improve behaviour as well as learning and concentration in children. Later on in life, when children become adults the Omega 3 may help to delay the onset of dementia. Apart from brain health, fish oil is rich in Vitamin D which is very important for strong bones and teeth and is also beneficial against Covid-19 since it helps in the immunity.

This initiative also has the support of the Education Authorities and could be only taken up following discussions by the head of school, Mr. Charles Micallef and Ms Carla Florian on behalf of hbhmalta, importers and representatives of the Holland and Barrett healthy goods.
