Launching of the publication Remembering Sette Giugno 1919 – 100th Anniversary

On Thursday 6th June 2019, the Senior 2 students of Mater Boni Consilii St. Joseph School together with the Head of School Dr.  Kenneth Vella, Ms Elaine Spiteri and Ms Lara Calleja were invited by the Office of the Speaker within the Parliament of Malta for the launching of the book Remembering Sette Giugno 1919 by Dr Alexander Cutajar and published by Kite Publishers.

The book launch also marked the 100th Anniversary celebrations from the events of the Sette Giugno.  The students had the opportunity to sit together with the Deputies and Members of Parliament for the inauguration of the book. During the event there were also official speeches by the author, Mr Gordon Pisani on behalf of the publishers, Professor George Cassar and also speaker of Parliament Dr Anglu Farrugia, the Hon Minister of Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo and the Hon Robert Cutajar on behalf of the Opposition.

Certainly, this would remain a very memorable experience for our girls, considering that ours was the only school invited for this launching. At the end of this activity, speaker Dr Anglu Farrugia presented a set of interesting research books to Dr Vella headmaster, and also encouraged the Head of school to send more students to visit the parliament in the coming months. Dr Vella thanked Dr Farrugia for the invitation and also presented him with a copy of the school publications The Link and Nitlob Miegħek.
