First day of the international workshop on Finnish Education and Pedagogy – March 2018


On Thursday 8th March 2018 saw the start of an International Conference on Finnish Education and Pedagogy at the Dolmen Hotel in Qawra.  Dr.  Kenneth Vella Headmaster of Mater Boni Consilii St.  Joseph School Paola, in collaboration with Tumas Fenech Foundation and Learning Scoop Finland are leading the conference with over 300 participants on two days and from various fields of education. There was also the participation of educators from Spain and Germany.

The conference took off with an introductory speech by Dr Vella and a presentation on the theme – The relationship between education and the press by Mr. Malcolm Naudi   former editor The Sunday Times of Malta and Secretary General Tumas Fenech Foundation.

Ms. Johanna Jarvinen Taubert (Learning Scoop Finland Pedagogical Director) and Ms Kaisa Tuomorla (Learning Scoop Pedagogical Specialist) then did their presentation and led the general discussion and workshops about The Finnish education system in general and the curriculum.   Ms. Johanna Jarvinen Taubert was also interviewed by the media during the conference. At the end of the first day of the workshop, Ambassador Anthony De Bono, who is also the vice chairman of the Tumas Fenech Foundation thanks the trainers from Learning Scoop Finland and presented a certificate to all participants. Special thanks goes also to Miller Distributors, Agenda Bookshop, Clevertouch Plus (A.G’s Productions), Eduka Link, Print It and the Malta Vocational Centre which are also supporting this event. The workshop will continue with another session on Friday 9th March.
