EU Code Week Activities – October 2023

During European Code Week which was held from Monday the 16th till Friday 20th October 2023, our students had the opportunity to play games related to coding during their ICT lesson. EU Code Week is a grassroots initiative which aims to bring coding and digital literacy to everybody in a fun and engaging way. This is an important initiative as learning to Code helps us to make sense of the rapidly changing world around us. Each class was presented with different activities: the Grade 4 girls helped Subby the submarine to locate fish in the Sci Girls Code Quest, the Grade 6 class created a space scene using Scratch, the Grade 2 had to find a solution to let the water flow next to the flower in the Let Me Grow Game while Grades 3 and 5 helped Elsa of Frozen to create snowflakes. The Grade 1s were engaged in an unplugged dance party session. The latter activity was part of the Coding Festa Hour and was also submitted for the SfCE Awards EMPOWER EDUC- Recognising Excellence in Code Week 2023. The activities were coordinated by Ms Cristina Spiteri, the ICT teacher.
