Celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week – February 2024

To celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week which falls between Monday 5th February and Sunday 11th February 2024, our Mental Health Student School Council Committee, under the supervision of Ms Alexia Brincau (Assistant Head) and Ms Elaine Azzopardi (Educator, Mindfulness Practitioner and Accredited Trainer), had the pleasure to present their work during this morning’s assembly. During the past months, they have been working hard towards improving the holistic well-being of the school community. Different representatives from the Senior 2, Senior 1, Grade 6 and Grade 4 classes worked hard together to gather information from their fellow class peers to assess the mental well-being of students. During this survey, various questions were asked including:– The things that make them feel happy at/outside school.– The things that they don’t like/make them worry at/outside school.– The things that can help them worry less. The aim of this survey was to give the students a voice, that is, a safe space where their opinion, thoughts and feelings are heard without any judgment, with the aim of making students aware of their strengths and at the same time, working towards a healthier mental well-being. This exercise also helped empower the student representatives who had the difficult task of interviewing the students. A big well done to all the students who took the time to embark on this wonderful experience.More projects are planned in the coming months where they will be working closely with educators and students alike.
