Animal Awareness Day 2023

Tuesday 17th October 2023 was a special day for our school as we celebrated Animal Awareness Day. Several parents and guardians joined in the celebration by bringing their pets to school. In his message, Dr Kenneth Vella, Head of School, emphasised on the importance of taking care, love and respect for animals. The activity started with a dance performed by the Senior 1 girls. They danced to the song ‘Laudato Si o mio Signore’ which is a based on a prayer by St Francis of Assisi as praise to God for His creatures. The girls were prepared by Ms Amy Lewis, the PE teacher, and Ms Mary Grace Grech, the Music teacher.

Ms Althea Galea, who works for a voluntary organisation, Vuċi Għall-Annimali, spoke about the work carried out by the organisation. She stressed on the importance of helping abandoned animals. She thanked the students and parents for the pet food which was collected for this activity.

The activity was followed by a prayer led by Fr Leonard Mintoff, the school chaplain. Then, the much-anticipated animal blessing took place.
