Animal Awareness Day – October 2024

Tuesday 15th October 2024 was a special day for our school as we celebrated Animal Awareness Day. Several parents and relatives joined in the celebration by bringing their pets to school. In his message, Dr Kenneth Vella, Head of School, emphasised on the importance of taking care, love and respect animals.
The activity started with a song Xemx u Qamar by Grade 4 class under the direction of Ms Mary Grace Grech, the Music teacher. Then, representatives from MSPCA spoke to the girls about the work carried out by the N.G.O. to save abandoned animals. They also encouraged the girls to support the organisation through donations. They thanked the girls and parents for the generous pet food donations which were collected by the school in the past days.
Emma Bishop, of Senior 2, Pearl Caruana and Elisa-Marie Farrugia, of Senior 1, spoke about St Francis of Assisi who loved animals and cared for them.
Fr Leonard Mintoff, the school chaplain, addressed the girls and parents and stressed on the importance of taking care of animals. After a prayer recited by Julia Rose Attard, of Senior 2, Fr Leonard blessed the animals which were brought to school for this occasion.
After the activity, parents and relatives were invited to see a poster exhibition which was set up in the school hall. The primary classes prepared a poster about their pets during the ICT lessons under the guidance of Ms Cristina Spiteri, the IT teacher, in collaboration with the pastoral team.
