Participation in Symbol Literacy Project – May 2024

During the third term, the Grade 5 class has been participating in Symbol Literacy Project based on the Maltese conquering the Moors in the 1400s. The girls had several lessons where they learnt about the history of pirates and Moors in Malta and the battles that the Maltese fought during these times. On Friday, 17th May 2024, the class had an educational visit in Mdina where the girls had the opportunity to re-enact these battles. They also visited the Mdina Cathedral which is home to Mattia Preti’s famous ‘St. Paul conquering the Moors’ painting, where the girls were allowed time to admire this painting and discuss what it represents. This activity was led by Ms Ann Marie. During the outing, the girls were accompanied by Ms Nicole Inguanez and Ms Bridget Cumbo.
